As I sat for the second hour listening to a teleconference I thought of a Lakota Indian saying - "When you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount." I vowed then and there never to belabor a point to death! Make a decision for Pete's sake! I would much rather be making or thinking about pots, but someone has to buy the grits.

- The foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Eastern Tennessee is where I grew up and early on learned to love nature . In the search for my connection to the earth, I have dabbled in basketry, painting, stained glass, glass bead making, silversmithing, quilting, sewing, photography, and most recently, pottery. Mind you, I am very much a novice potter and may never develope a great degree of skill. But, I have my family and a few friends fooled. They think every warped thing I take out of the kiln is priceless. I have to be very quick with the ol' hammer to destroy a potential "treasure" that would end up in one of their homes to constantly bear witness to my skill level or lack there of.
